Immune system plays a role in the control of the cancer and other disease, but also causes in the disorder of allergies, hypersensitivity and the rejection of transplanted organs, tissues and medical implants. In recent, the interests is growing in the immunomodulatory therapies that is based on the immune system. This lead to a new area of immunopharmacology which is one of immunotherapheutics. Since immunosuppressive drug(cyclosporin A) for use in transplantation immunity were developed, the new drugs have became available to be used or tested for clinical treatment. Here, this study was scheduled and progressed with a view to developing a new immunomodulator. Particularly, this study examined the effect of immunomodultor on the negative activity in skin immune system such as allergies, hypersensitivity. The compound used in this experiments is Pedunculagin, a ellagitannin purified from Alnus hisuta var microphylla (Betulaceae). In vitro, In vivo experiments, the expression of IL-6 mRNA was upregulated by pedunculagin. This results suggested that pedunculagin could be an immunomodultor in skin immune system.
